About

Maximilian Tischer seated in his Berlin studio among finished and in-progress abstract paintings

Maximilian Tischer is a Berlin-based abstract artist. His work explores color, movement, and the tension between energy & stillness.

Through expressive gestures, layered surfaces and varying consistencies of paint, he seeks to capture fleeting moments of movement and energy. He is particularly interested in the tension between energy and stillness, allowing dynamic gestures to coexist with quieter areas and open space.

His paintings are deliberately open to interpretation. Rather than depicting specific subjects or telling predefined stories, he leaves room for viewers to discover their own forms, associations and meanings. What one person sees may be entirely different from another, allowing each work to become a personal experience shaped by the viewer’s imagination and perspective.
